Snickerdoodle cookies
- 1 c butter
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 c flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and mix. Mix flour, cream of
tartar, soda and salt in second bowl. Add dry ingredients to
egg mixture; let stand in refrigerator until cool. Roll into
small balls. Roll balls in cinnamon and sugar mixture (1/2 c
sugar and 3 tbsp cinnamon). Bake in 400 degree oven 8 to 10
minutes. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
Applesauce Snickerdoodles Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup smooth, unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For Rolling
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Directions:
Heat oven to 375. In a large bowl, wisk together the applesauce,
shortening, the honey, the sugars and the eggs. In a seperate
bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg,
and cream of tartar. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into
the wet ones. Cover and place in the freezer for about 45
minutes. This makes it easier to handle. In a shallow bowl
mix the sugar and the cinnamon. Roll the dough into evenly
sized balls and roll in the sugar. Place them 2 inches apart
on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes. The cookies should be brown and soft,
but not burned. Remove from cookie sheet immediately and place
on wire rack to cool. This recipe for Applesauce Snickerdoodles
serves/makes 3 dozen.
